EPA: Tomorrow, join a virtual workshop on managing chronic diseases during disasters

TOMORROW: EPA, SWCPEH, Texas Tech University, Harris County and The Hackett Center will host a virtual workshop on managing chronic diseases during disasters

(DALLAS – May 5, 2021) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Southwest Center for Pediatric Environmental Health, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, Harris County Public Health, and the Hackett Center of Mental Health are hosting a virtual disaster recovery workshop for the Houston, Texas area. The session is part of a four-part series, the second session will take place on May 6, 2021 at 5p.m. (CST).

The event will discuss the importance of addressing asthma and other chronic issues associated with disasters. Participants will also revisit lessons learned from Hurricane Harvey with emphasis on children's emotional response to natural disasters. These sessions are for parents, teachers, health care providers, maintenance staff and community members. A certificate of attendance will be given to every registered participant who attends the entire session. The certificate of attendance may be used for your professional development.
