EPA anticipates awarding approximately $400 million in 2023 Clean School Bus Grants to replace existing school buses with electric, propane, and compressed natural gas models. Who is eligible? - State and Local Governmental Entities (e.g., school districts)
- Public Charter School Districts
- Indian Tribes, Tribal Organizations, or Tribally-controlled Schools
- Nonprofit School Transportation Associations
- Eligible Contractors (including OEMs, Dealers, and Private Bus Fleets)
Priority for funding is given to applications that propose to replace buses that serve districts that meet one or more of the prioritization criteria: - High-need local educational agencies,
- Rural school districts,
- Bureau of Indian Affairs-funded school districts,
- School districts that receive basic support payments for children who reside on Indian land
