To assess vacant industrial properties for cleanup, redevelopment

WHAT:

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will announce a $300,000 brownfields grant to Norristown, Pennsylvania to conduct site assessments of potentially contaminated properties, and determine the feasibility for cleanup and redevelopment.

The event will be held at a downtown Norristown distillery -- Five Saints Distillery – which had been a former brownfields site that sat vacant from the mid-1990s to 2016.  It was once the site of the Humane Engine #1 Fire House that was built about 125 years ago. An EPA brownfields grant was used to clean up the site so that it could be put to productive use.
