| Summit for Sustainable and Healthy K-12 School Buildings and Grounds Livestream Recording Now Available On Friday, April 26, the White House hosted the first-ever Summit for Sustainable and Healthy K-12 School Buildings and Grounds. Panelists shared information and best practices on funding and implementing a variety of programs across their districts, all with the goal of ensuring healthy learning environments for our nation's children. Some of the programs that were highlighted by districts and labor representatives include: - Deploying electric school buses,
- Remediating lead in drinking water,
- Indoor air quality management, and
- Decarbonization and energy efficiency.
In coordination with the Summit, the White House released two documents for school districts: - A Fact Sheet highlighting some of the Biden-Harris Administration's recent investments in healthy and sustainable school buildings. The Fact Sheet includes examples of how school districts are taking advantage of new funding opportunities.
- The White House Toolkit for Sustainable and Healthy Schools: 2024 Update to Federal Resources to Address K-12 School Infrastructure Needs. School leaders can use the toolkit to identify sources of federal funding and technical support available to achieve health and sustainability goals, including electrification, reduced exposure to environmental health hazards, cleaner school transportation, resiliency to climate change hazards, and improved air and water quality.
